The lid has always been considered an important part of a tea pot. It helps retain heat for better brewing and also contains the aroma to the tea pot. However, a lid requires washing and, since it may be small and fragile, it can break requiring repair or replacement. A tea pot without a lid allows you to see the leaves opening and lets you enjoy the aroma while infusing. The Futanashi Kyusu is a quality tea pot with a fine metal sieve just like a regular Kyusu.
