Den has selected several teapots which are representative of Japanese artistry in teaware. The teapots are handcrafted in Tokoname, one of the six old kilns of Japan. Tokoname is located in Aichi prefecture in Southern Japan. Tokoname pottery is made from clay rich in ferric oxide. The ferric oxide is famous for producing the popular red clay teapot, which most Japanese families own and use. The ferric oxide also reacts with the tannin in green tea and is believed to remove the some of bitterness from green tea.
