| The traditional Japanese teapot or "Kyusu" is widely recognized because of its characteristic side mounted handle. The majority of tea (and coffee) pots in North America have the handle on the back of the pot, probably taken from the British style teapot. We have been looking for a teapot appropriate for brewing authentic Japanese green tea with a back handle and we found "Ushiro De Kyusu". Ushiro De simply means "a handle on the back". Similar to a traditional Kyusu, this teapot has a fine sieve to strain the tea as you pour. Unlike a traditional Kyusu, it has 12 oz capacity, 30% more than our regular sized Kyusu.
